in three parts: a reading, a storytelling and an audio play

In the first part Barbara Kraus engages with the correlation between everyone’s private and collective experiences of “silence”, which she wrote texts about that were published in a book.

In the second part she guides friends and colleagues to locations where they experienced that things had either been kept secret in their families or had become obscured by time, and invited them to talk about these. Excerpts were published online at www.corpusweb.net.

The third part is an audio play (see images) held at Halle G of the Tanzquartier Wien. It was a sound collage based on these interviews and texts. Four speakers were placed in the audience; the venue contained about 50 comfortable bean bags as seating, where you could follow the sound and the spoken texts. The set was kept more or less dark while the lighting slowly changed from warm to cold tones and back.
